The Unprofessionals. It was very much like Mary Robison's
Why Did I Ever, in a way, except for the character in The Unprofessionals seemed a lot less sure of herself, or even her own standing as a human being on the planet Earth. Loved it.
I have been submitting far fewer stories of late, and also getting a lot of "This is really great! But we don't want it, thanks." This is keeping me humble extremely effectively, which is a good thing, as my dad once casually informed me "You think you're special and you act accordingly," which I think he meant as a compliment? but which I took as the worst news ever, ever, ever.
